(this is all hypothetical, as we are not yet ttc again, though we will probably start in the next year.) i’ve been trying to think of ways that i could possibly honor my mother, whose given name is [name_f]kathy[/name_f]. Not sure if it’s weird to spell it catherine instead of katherine if using the nickname kit. The other spellings feel, well, just less so to me.
I feel it’s classic, distinguished and complete.
[name_f]cathleen [/name_f] feels smoother and fresher, as others have said. She holds a phd in electrical. How would you honor a kathleen (or any other traditionally feminine name with no direct masculine variants) if you had a son? Kathleen joined imec in 2007 and has held positions as principal scientist, as program manager for ulp wireless and as director iot.
Before joining imec, she was a senior research scientist at philips research for over 12 years. Does anyone know of anything. It has a homey, cosy feel to it, like hearth fires and an evening walk over fields. Does it make sense to use the nickname kit for catherine or does it only make sense to spell it katherine?

What first name do you think goes best with [name_f]kathleen [/name_f] as a middle name? My husband prefers [name]katherine[/name] because of the history of russian royalty bearing the name. [name_f]kathleen [/name_f] seems more like an out of favour irish classic than simply dated. There isn’t a male form.
Katinka love it kirrily is a quirky favourite of mine, but i’m not sure it fits the cultural crossover you’re going for. It may be due to the surge in popularity of “k” names in the past few decades. My favorites are [name]lily [/name] [name]belle [/name] and [name]lily [/name] [name]anne [/name]. She seems much more southern to me, probably because of [name_f]cathleen [/name_f] whatshername in.

Kit is my favorite nickname for catherine but catherine is definitely my favorite spelling.
In tolstoy’s anna karenina, kitty is a nickname for ekaterina so katarina definitely works and doesn’t feel like too much of a stretch to me. For a boy, though, it’s tricky. I really like the nickname [name_f]kitty[/name_f], but i don’t particularly want to use [name_f]katharine[/name_f], [name_f]katherine[/name_f], [name_f]catherine[/name_f], or even [name_f]kaitlyn[/name_f] or [name_f]caitlyn[/name_f]. I also don’t want to use [name_f]kitty[/name_f] as the actual name.
